CHANGE IS IN THE AIR

Fall has arrived! It’s that time of year when change is in the air as the temperature starts to drop and the leaves change color. Fall is one our favorite seasons here at Boston Corporate Coach™, especially when we take our customers to witness the changing ash, hickory, maple and oak trees.

While many people associate the Northeast with the best foliage, there are plenty of places throughout the country with beautiful sites. Here are some of our favorites:

  • New York
While you can see some foliage in Central Park, you will want to take a Boston Corporate Coach vehicle and head to the Catskills or the Adirondack Mountains. The Catskills alone take up over 6,000 square miles and are home to thirty-five mountain peaks over 3,500 feet high. Here you’ll see vibrant yellows, oranges, and reds at peak typically between late September to mod-to-late October. There are also of plenty Oktoberfest’s and other fall festivals in the area so do some event research before you plan your trip to make the most out of it!
  • Boston
Boston’s fall foliage blazes across the city from late September through October – and often well into November. In the heart of Boston Proper, the Public Garden is where you’ll usually spot the bright splashes of foliage on the first fall days, usually on small ornamental Japanese maple trees. Dating back to Boston’s Victorian era, the Public Garden contains dense groupings of specimen trees and shrubs from around the world. Each species changes color at a slightly different time, making a constantly shifting tapestry of autumnal tones. You can also visit Boston Common, the 44-acre plot where the first English settler in the area built his cabin back in 1625 and a center of activity for Bostonians ever since, puts on a spectacular display of color throughout the fall months. Almost 700 oak, beech, chestnut, maple, and even elm trees are dotted across the Common. Several of these species change color late in the season, so the Common is a great place to see lovely fall foliage in November and even December.
  • Vermont
Next on our list is Vermont. A beautiful state for nature sightseeing year-round, Vermont has a short yet beautiful foliage season. Ski towns like Stowe and Waitsfield offer beautiful views of red, yellow, orange, and brown from the comfort of a ski lift! If the weather is too chilly for that, you can see plenty of foliage from the car as you drive over the mountains and through the gorges of this gorgeous state. We suggest driving on the Green Mountain Byway, from Waterbury (home of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream) to Stowe. We also suggest a scenic ride on Route 17 with stops at Sugarbush Resort or Mad River Glen. The northern Vermont foliage season usually begins the second week of September and peaks the first week of October. There are plenty of places to stay near ski resorts, so we suggest you look there first. It’s also important to note that severe weather in the form of thunderstorms or even snowstorms can strike any time so let a pro do the driving!

We’re thankful fall has arrived and hope we’ve inspired you to take a visit the fall foliage this year. Just call +1-800-664-4480 to make your reservations or visit https://bostoncorporatecoach.com/reservations/.
